We match you with game reviewers who actually share your taste — so you can trust their recommendations on games you haven't played yet.
Score games on a simple 1–5 star scale. The more games you rate, the better your matches get. Even a handful of ratings is enough to get started — we only need at least 2 overlapping games with a reviewer to calculate a match.
Every professional review on the site is normalized to the same 1–5 scale, regardless of whether the reviewer originally scored on a 10-point, 100-point, or letter-grade system. We then look at every game you and a reviewer have both scored.
For each reviewer, we look at the games you've both scored and calculate:
Of the games you and the reviewer have both scored, the share where you landed within half a star of each other. Agree on 8 out of 10 games and you scored alike on 80%. It's the raw, honest number.
Your headline number, and what we rank reviewers by. It starts from Scored Alike and accounts for how many games back it up relative to how many you've rated, so a critic who agreed on 6 of the 6 games you share doesn't outrank one who agreed on 20 of 25. A reviewer with a high Scored Alike across lots of games earns a match in the 90s; ordinary matches land in the 60s to 80s. As you rate more games, your matches firm up.
The total number of games you and the reviewer have both scored. More games compared means more data, which makes the match percentage more meaningful.
Once you know which reviewers think like you, their high-scoring reviews become personalized recommendations. On each reviewer's profile, we show you their top-rated games you haven't played yet. You can also follow reviewers to stay up to date when they publish new reviews.
